Brooklyn Beckham and Nicola Peltz Beckham are reportedly changing which date they recognize as their wedding anniversary, embracing the anniversary of their 2025 vow renewal rather than their original April 2022 ceremony.
The couple married in Palm Beach, Florida, on April 9th, 2022, before renewing their vows on August 2nd, 2025. This week, they publicly marked a year since the second ceremony with affectionate tributes referring to the occasion as their anniversary.
People now reports that Brooklyn and Nicola are no longer treating the date of their first wedding as the anniversary they want to celebrate, with an anonymous source attributing the change to painful memories surrounding the original event.
Brooklyn is continuing estrangement from his parents, David and Victoria Beckham. In January, he directly connected the 2025 vow renewal to what he described as anxiety and embarrassment surrounding his first wedding.
Brooklyn and Nicola Marked Their Vow-Renewal Anniversary
Brooklyn and Nicola renewed their vows on August 2nd, 2025, and this week both publicly referred to the milestone as their anniversary. Their Instagram tributes were posted on August 4th, two days after the actual anniversary of the ceremony.
“Happy anniversary Nicola,” Brooklyn wrote. “I can’t tell you how much I love you x you are my best friend and I love you more than life itself xx I am so lucky to be able to call you my wife.” He called Nicola his “absolute princess” and promised to “always protect” her.
Nicola shared her own message to Brooklyn, writing, “Happy anniversary my love,” before thanking him for being “the most amazing husband I could ever dream of.”
However, one detail complicates the suggestion that they had already abandoned their original anniversary earlier this year. Brooklyn did celebrate April 9th publicly in 2026. On their fourth wedding anniversary, he gave Nicola white roses and shared a message saying they had “been through so much together” and were “stronger than ever.”
The Vow Renewal Was Intended to Create a New Memory
The couple’s August 2025 vow renewal came a little more than three years after their Palm Beach wedding. At the time, a source close to the couple told People that the event was about “honoring the love and commitment they’ve built together over the years” and creating a lasting new memory.
Brooklyn later explained the significance of that new memory much more directly. After publicly addressing his family estrangement in January 2026, he said he and Nicola renewed their vows because of how they remembered their original wedding.
“We wanted to renew our vows so we could create new memories of our wedding day that bring us joy and happiness, not anxiety and embarrassment,” Brooklyn wrote.
The 2025 celebration was notably centered on Nicola’s family. Her father, Nelson Peltz, officiated the ceremony, and she wore a reworked version of the wedding dress her mother, Claudia Heffner Peltz, had worn in 1985. David and Victoria were not reported among the guests.
The Original Wedding Became Central to Brooklyn’s Family Rift
Brooklyn and Nicola’s first wedding took place on April 9th, 2022, at the Peltz family’s Palm Beach estate in front of hundreds of guests. Years later, Brooklyn alleged that events surrounding that wedding became a major source of tension between him and his parents.
In his January statement, he claimed Victoria had agreed to design Nicola’s wedding dress before withdrawing from the arrangement, leaving Nicola to find another option. Nicola ultimately wore a custom Valentino Haute Couture gown.
Brooklyn also alleged that his mother “hijacked” what was supposed to be his first dance with Nicola after singer Marc Anthony called him to the stage. “My mum was waiting to dance with me instead,” Brooklyn wrote, according to The Guardian.
He claimed Victoria then “danced very inappropriately” with him in front of the guests. “I’ve never felt more uncomfortable or humiliated in my entire life,” he said.
The Estrangement From David and Victoria Continues
Brooklyn confirmed the depth of his family rift in January when he said he did not want to reconcile with his parents. “I do not want to reconcile with my family,” he wrote. “I’m not being controlled, I’m standing up for myself for the first time in my life.”
He accused his parents of prioritizing their public image and attempting to interfere with his marriage, while also rejecting repeated reports suggesting Nicola controls him.
Victoria addressed the family situation more generally in an April interview with WSJ. Magazine. “We love our children so much,” she said. “We’ve always tried to be the best parents that we can be.” She added that she and David had spent more than three decades in the public eye and had always tried to protect and love their children.
