Closure Systems International (CSI) has launched a new child-resistant closure (CRC) platform, named Defender-Lok.
The company noted that Defender-Lok has been specifically tailored for use in the over-the-counter (OTC) and nutraceutical sectors, focusing on safety, efficiency, and sustainability.
Defender-Lok is designed to fit into existing capping and filling operations, aiming to reduce downtime, feeder jams, and sealing issues.
The new closure system is expected to enhance production efficiency, streamline validation processes, and maintain consistent output.
It has received certification for being child-resistant and accommodating for older users, addressing safety concerns for both producers and consumers.
Notable characteristics of Defender-Lok include its certified CRC design, sustainable construction, high-speed capabilities, tamper-evident features, and compatibility with various liner types.
The closures are offered in adaptable formats to meet different market requirements.
In light of increasing extended producer responsibility regulations and specific US state mandates such as California’s Senate Bill 54 (SB-54), the focus on sustainability has intensified.
Defender-Lok is said to have been designed to minimise material use, thereby decreasing resin consumption, shipping weight, and overall environmental impact.
CSI has reported that certain stock-keeping units already meet or exceed the 2027 SB-54 targets, and all closures in this line can be manufactured using CSI’s PolyCycle post-consumer recycled resin, which is fully recyclable.
