Tariffs are poised to drive up grocery bills for American consumers, with items like fruits, vegetables and flowers expected to see the steepest price increases. Smart shopping expert Trae Bodge joined TheStreet to break down which categories will be hit hardest and how soon shoppers could feel the impact.

TRAE BODGE: We're going to see high prices in many categories. But one that I think could catch us off guard are groceries. We import many of the regular things that we are buying every day. And think about avocados or tomatoes, tropical fruits, things like that will be higher priced. And I think that's going to surprise a lot of consumers. For many categories, we have a few months simply because merchandise is being shipped over. However, anything that's perishable, for example, like flowers, foods, things like that. We could be seeing those prices right now.
