In a time where people are pulling back on nonessential purchases as tariff threats loom and everything feels more expensive than ever, businesses face a unique challenge.
That challenge is finding a way to keep customers interested enough to buy at a price point that doesn't feel scary to them, at a time when spending money feels scary in general.

Any business can sling out a value menu, for instance, and it may be serviceable.
But to come up with value options that actually excite loyal customers and make them want to try what's new — well, that's the kind of magic very few fast-food retailers know how to invent.

Taco Bell unveils the Luxe Value Menu
Starting on July 16, Taco Bell debuts a completely new menu for those who live in the Indianapolis area.
Called the Luxe Value Menu, this new limited-edition slate of items features five debut eats, including a Mini Taco Salad, a Chipotle Ranch Chicken Stacker, a Beefy Potato Loaded Griller, a Chips & Nacho Supreme Dip, and a dessert called Salted Caramel Churros.
These five new items join already-cheap favorites on the value menu, which currently includes the Cheesy Roll Up, Spicy Potato Soft Taco, Cheesy Bean & Rice Burrito, Three-Cheese Chicken Flatbread, and the Cheesy Double Beef Burrito.

The items in this test lineup each cost $3 or less, adding to Taco Bell's rotation of affordable options.
As with all test menu items, if customer response is positive, they may be rolled out to all Taco Bells nationwide.
If you're feeling frustrated that you don't live in Indianapolis to try this out, know that the Bell thought of that and came up with a solution to spice up your next visit.
The chain also debuts a limited edition Sweet Chipotle BBQ sauce July 16, which comes as an addition to Crispy Chicken Tacos and Burritos. But since the app allows you to customize your order, you can add it to just about anything you want.
Yum Brands continues to dominate
In its April earnings call, Yum Brands CEO David Gibbs gave a special shout-out to Taco Bell for its standout accomplishments.
“I’m incredibly proud of our teams’ ability to stay nimble and deliver industry-leading results in a complex consumer environment,” Gibbs said.
“Our twin growth engines led the way, with Taco Bell U.S. reporting a remarkable 9% same-store sales growth and KFC International accelerating same-store sales growth while generating 7% unit growth year-over-year.”
Taco Bell also celebrated its second Live Mas Live event this year in Brooklyn, which it calls the “ultimate Taco Bell fan experience.”
The event featured live entertainment, new menu drops, and test kitchen items such as a Mexican Pizza Empanada, Salted Toffee Cream Empanada Bites, and the mini-bite-sized taco salad that's on the new Luxe Value menu.
Taco Bell also live-streamed the event and invited loyal fans of the brand to attend, successfully drumming up interest and keeping the 63-year-old chain feeling as fresh as ever.
