Las Vegas Strip casinos have had a difficult time lately cancelling headliner residency shows.
Performers and fans are disappointed and inconvenienced when shows need to be cancelled.
For fans, it could mean rescheduling flight plans and room reservations or cancelling them altogether.

Performers will need to find immediate open dates on their residency calendars to reschedule dates, or they may face long postponements or complete cancellations.
Several huge rock bands and singers recently cancelled or postponed scheduled residency shows on the Strip.
Rock stars cancel and postpone residencies
Legendary rock star Rod Stewart cancelled shows at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace on June 1, 4, 7, 8, and 9, 2025, because of the flu.
Stewart did not reschedule those shows, but he had already, in March, extended the residency by six shows scheduled on Sept. 24, 26, 27, Oct. 1, 3, and 4, 2025.
Legendary rock band Santana cancelled the first eight shows of its 2025 residency at the House of Blues at Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino, from Jan. 22 to Feb. 2, 2025, due to frontman Carlos Santana breaking a finger in an accidental fall at his vacation home in Hawaii.
Santana is set to return to the House of Blues for 15 shows in September and November 2025.
Also, hard rock band Mötley Crüe had to cancel its 11 shows at Dolby Live at the Park MGM scheduled in March and April 2025 because of a medical issue.
Las Vegas Strip residency shows cancelled
- Santana cancelled Jan. 22, 23, 25, 26, 29, 30, Feb. 1, and 2, 2025.
- Mötley Crüe cancelled March 28 and 29, April 2, 4, 5, 9, 11, 12, 16, 18, and 19, 2025.
- Rod Stewart cancelled June 1, 4, 7, 8, and 9, 2025.
The band was able to reschedule 10 of those shows for September and October 2025.
Kelly Clarkson cancels Vegas Strip residency shows
Finally, “American Idol” legend and superstar singer Kelly Clarkson has cancelled four August residency shows at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas because of the death of her ex-husband, and father of her two children, Brandon Blackstock
The “Because of You” singer cancelled shows on Aug. 8, 9, 15, and 16, but plans to perform regularly scheduled shows on Nov. 8, 14, and 15, 2025, at the venue.
Kelly Clarkson's August cancelled show dates:
- Aug. 8
- Aug. 9
- Aug. 15
- Aug. 16
Clarkson, however, will give disappointed ticketholders plenty of opportunities to see her next year, as she has scheduled a six-show extension of her residency July 17, 18, 24, 25, 31, and Aug. 1, 2026.

Tickets for all of her scheduled shows are available at Ticketmaster.com. Ticketholders of the cancelled shows may contact Ticketmaster for refunds.
Kelly Clarkson's remaining residency show dates:
- Nov. 8, 14, and 15, 2025.
- July 17, 18, 24, 25, 31, and Aug. 1, 2026.
The talk show host revealed on Instagram her decision to cancel the four shows on Aug. 7.
“Unfortunately, I need to postpone the remainder of the August Studio Session dates in Las Vegas,” Clarkson wrote.
“While I normally keep my personal life private, this past year my children's father has been ill and at this moment, I need to be fully present for them,” Clarkson continued.
“I am sincerely sorry to everyone who bought tickets to the shows and I so appreciate your grace, kindness and understanding,” she concluded.
Kelly Clarkson's ex-husband Brandon Blackstock passes away
A representative for Blackstock revealed on Aug. 7 that the 48-year-old talent manager had passed away after a long battle with cancer, ABC News reported.
“It is with great sadness that we share the news that Brandon Blackstock has passed away,” the representative said.

“Brandon bravely battled cancer for more than three years. He passed away peacefully and was surrounded by family,” the representative said.
“We thank you for your thoughts and prayers and ask everyone to respect the family's privacy during this very difficult time,” the message concluded.
Clarkson and Blackstock, who married in 2013, have two children, River, 10, and Remy, 8. Clarkson filed for divorce in 2020.
Kelly Clarkson had cancelled earlier residency shows
The former coach on “The Voice” has had a difficult time with her “Studio Sessions” residency, as the singer postponed her opening weekend July 4-5 about 90 minutes before the first show because of vocal fatigue, the Las Vegas Review-Journal reported.
Clarkson unveiled her “Kelly Clarkson: Studio Sessions” residency on Feb. 6, with 18 shows planned from July 4 through Aug. 16, and continuing in November.
Clarkson last performed a residency on the Strip in 2023 and 2024 at PH Live at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino.
