Another way to think about it is that It's just log(1.07)(2) which gives us 10.25 years. So it takes 10.25 years to double any investment given a 7% annual return. Although, I think 7% is a bit high and you'd he better off using 5%, which would mean it will take you 14.2 years instead. This ofc doesn't take into consideration any inflation.
