Ma'am your calculation is wrong. Premature FD withdrawal penalty 1% is only on total acquired interest, not on capital amount.
That means it would be 400 to 500 only depending upon use of interest. I don't think it's 4000.

Guys invest your fd money only in Govt banks like indian bank pnb bank or other bank of govt do not invest In private banks or partner banks
But what about when restrictions on withdrawals are imposed by RBI in Bank when the Bank is in very bad position.. You will get 5 lakh plus interest but when remains questionable. Many customers of such Banks are waiting for restoration of withdrawal limit.

For ex if ROI is 6% per year and 4% for 6 months. And you have done an fd for an year which you want to close it lets say after 6 months . 1% penalty would be applicable on the tenure of the fd you actually kept, not on an year. That means you actually kept fd for 6 months whose ROI is 4 . So 4-1 that's 3. It's not 6-1, 5.
