Once you know what software you intend to use for your day-to-day tasks, you can make some educated decisions about how much power, memory, and storage you'll need. If your coworkers are all using Windows machines, chances are you'll be happy with the latest version of Windows Pro and a baseline amount of RAM. Laptops have a reputation for being difficult to upgrade, but one of the nice selling points with this machine is that you do have the option to double the DDR4 memory from 16 to 32 gigabytes if you run into a new piece of software that requires a huge amount of RAM. (This is unlikely for the vast majority of users, but you never know.) The one terabyte SSD is similarly upgradable; you can replace it with up to 8 terabytes of storage should you start working with, say, a lot of video, high-fidelity audio, or something similarly space-intensive.

The 15.6-inch display has a standard 1080p resolution (or “full HD”), powered by an integrated Intel UHD Graphics processor. You can connect multiple 4K monitors for external display from the laptop, at a refresh rate of 60 Hz, if you find you need a ton of screen space for a particular project. The laptop has two USB 3.0 ports, a microSD memory card slot, a mini HDMI output, a 3.5-millimeter audio jack, and a DC power port.
