You can’t guarantee those returns, but the figures are more than doable… I’ve had more growth than that every year for the last 5 years across my stocks (even with the recent market dip)… no leverage or multipliers… just dollar cost averaging into my own stock picks
In Brazil and unfortunately I think for only Brazilians residents, they can get over 15% return investing in the treasury, risk free, it is unreal. Can't get this anywhere 😢
It's worth noting that QQQ over the past 10 years has returned 18.12%. It's not hard to imagine someone with skill at fundamentally valuing QQQ (based on past and expected future earnings from the companies within the index) to trade out of QQQ when overvalued and buy when at fair or undervalued. Not many can do it but those that can could easily earn 20% for their investors.
I follow a retired Wall Street professional on YouTube (and other online channels) who has decided to give back the kindness shown to him at the start of his career by teaching others (for free) how to follow the same method. It's focused on valuing companies appropriately and managing risk. It literally comes out of the Warren Buffett and Peter Lynch methodologies. He has kept a live and public document tracker of his performance for years and has averaged between 30-40%.
So it is possibly. However, here are the caveats: he's the professional doing the research, contacting management, and valuing the companies. Without a decade or more of full time learning, I can not do what he does. Also, the only reason I follow him is because he does offer his teaching for free. Anyone who would charge and say that 30%+ returns were expected, I would immediately not trust.
So for the average person, it is not possible to get 20%, but there are rare opportunities out there that create exceptions.
Run a compound calculator and see what beating the market by 5% (12% annualized return) does for your total number at the end of 20-40 years. You'll realize that most people would LOVE to beat the market by just 5%.
My investment fund with manulife has an average ROR of 19.3% since first contribution. If I could post a screenshot, I would. This is an aggressive fund.
If he was talking about stocks I agree with you, but my investors regularly get 20% plus returns on our multifamily assets, when we sell the get 200% back on their total investment as well
There's a Portuguese youtuber promoting a course that returns over 20% through forex trading. It's really sad cause actually most of his content is sound financial advice
One can hit 20%, but a lot of those spots are taken up or unattainable for a majority of the entire american population. Otherwise the only 20% you'll be getting is in the short term, small amounts, or net wise is not 20%
15% – 20% is possible when you leverage your investment by 2 times at least. Or do algo trading or system trading . Manually or buy and hold would not give much return. I have personally made 59% in Tesla and nvidia but then lost 30% so net is 29% this year.
This guy has never heard of Jim Simons or Paul Tudor Jones. Far greater returns than 20%. Albeit, there's only a handful of guys on earth with the intellectual capacity to accomplish that.
With small sums it’s not that hard. Once you get into the hundreds of millions it is much harder when you get into the billions it’s very close to impossible.
Peter lynch did 22% p.a in the Magellan fund, its not impossible, just rare. If its on YouTube, its probably a scam, they arent offering you peasents 20% returns

U can do 15% or so in Nasdaq only but u have to be lucky to get out before it plunges 80%.

Is 12-13% and stretch? Seems to be what Dave Ramsey’s team says you can use as your “standard”. I don’t think what they’re saying is realistic.
