U.S. stock futures pointed to a muted open on Thursday as the market focuses on how quickly the Federal Reserve is likely to lower interest rates. S&P 500 futures and those tied to the Nasdaq 100 futures were also falling down 0.1%. The major indexes have dropped for two days in a row, eroding some of the gains seen for financial stocks and technology companies in the wake of the Fed’s interest-rate cut earlier this month.
