Tesla enters Wednesday trading with a market value north of $1 trillion, along with eight other companies in the S&P 500: Nvidia, Microsoft, Apple, Amazon.com, Alphabet, Meta Platforms, Broadcom, and Berkshire Hathaway.
Tesla stands apart from the other eight in a couple of ways. For starters, there is valuation. Tesla stock trades for about 180 times estimated earnings, according to Bloomberg. The other eight trade for an average of about 30 times. Besides Tesla, Broadcom tops the range at 42 times. At the low end, Alphabet trades for about 19 times.
